Mrs. Margaret M. Powell

Services for Mrs. Margaret M. Powell age 98,  a life long resident of Davy who passed away on Monday, February 12, 2018 in the comforts of her home.  She was born February 14, 1919 in Twin branch, and the daughter of the late Gene and Beatrice (Johnson) Franklin.  She was a homemaker and a trained midwife.  She was a member of the (former) Mourners in the Valley Baptist Church in Marytown.  In later years, she joined Beulah Missionary Baptist Church in Big Sandy, where she was a member of the Deacons & Ministers Conference.  She loved reading her Bible and had completed several home study classes.  She enjoyed writing both poetry and songs and walked several miles daily until the age of 72.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore R. Powell Sr., her siblings:  Deloris, Georgia, Helen, James, Raymond, Sylvia and Walter; one grandson, Larry and a great-grandson.  Mrs. Powell was the last surviving member of her original family.  She leaves many cherished memories to her sons:  Theodore R. (Mary) Powell Jr., and Jerome Powell both of New Jersey and Julius A. Powell of the home; her grandchildren:  Larry, Theodore III., Francine, "Nee-Nee," and several great-grandchildren; generations of cousins and many friends, which includes; a special friend, Ruth Ann Franklin of Marytown.  Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Beulah Missionary Baptist Church in Big Sandy, with the Reverends Larry Hairston and George Masterson officiating.  Interment will follow in Rest lawn Memorial Gardens on 6605 New Hope Road in Bluewell.  Family and friends will serve as pall bearers.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., until time of Service on Saturday, at the Church.
