Rodney J. Powell

A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Rodney J. "Ghost" Powell age 41, of Princeton, West Virginia; formerly of Elkhorn, West Virginia.  He departed this life in the comforts of his home on Wednesday, April 10, 2024.  Rodney Jermaine Powell was born on the 24th day of July, 1982 in Bluefield, West Virginia, and the son of Brenda J. Powell and Jess "Dana" McDaniel.  Rodney was raised in Elkhorn and as a youth, was a member of  Upland Baptist Church.  He was a graduate of and an outstanding basketball player at Mount View High School.  He was employed at the Cracker Barrel Restaurant, and recently hired at the Texas Steakhouse both located in Princeton.  Rodney was known as a "Jack of all Trades."  He was born with the ability to work well with his hands and to repair whatever was needed.  Rodney was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, William and Della Powell, who helped raise him; his paternal grandparents, Jess "Red" and Elsie McDaniel; three siblings:  Johnny Mosley, Dana Martin and Chris Johnson.  Rodney leaves a lifetime of cherished memories to his Mom, Brenda and Dad, Dana (Judy); two sons, Terrell Bell and Marion Powell; his siblings:  Traci Powell, Jermaine Mack, Anthony Smith, Stephanie Woody, Keisha Carrington, Jessica Fletcher, Susie McKenzie and Shenisse Shumate;  his special aunts:  Rannetta Powell, Faye Hairston and Mary Redd; a host of uncles, aunts, nephews and nieces; numerous cousins and friends and a special friend, Cherelle Ware.  Services for Rodney Jermaine Powell will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Upland Baptist Church, 9 Chapel Road in Elkhorn, with the Reverends: David Cooper, Timothy Hairston, Dane Moore eulogist, Joseph Moore and Jerome Powell, presiding.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM until the time of Service. Pallbearers:  Greg Gammon, Sport Marshall, Jae'den Powell, Ronald Smith, Steven Walker and Deiyantei Powell-Woods.   Interment will be held at 12:00 noon, on Monday, April 22, 2024 at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, 6605 New Hope Road in Bluewell, West Virginia.  Services entrusted to Gregory-Page Funeral Home in Welch, West Virginia.
