Carl L. "Ben" Collins

Carl L. "Ben" Collins age 62,  resided in Havaco, WV his entire life, and passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2019 in the comforts of his home. He was born in Williamson, WV, on March 27, 1957 and the son of the late Estella B. Collins Gray and Carl L. Collins Sr.  After completing his education  at Welch High School, he began working as a detail automotive specialist at Gianato-Pontiac Dealership and later worked for Jones Automotive, both in Welch. He was a life long member of Havaco Temple Missionary Baptist Church.   Ben as he will lovingly be remembered was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys' fan and an Atlanta Braves' fan.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Mack Earley and his sister, Yolanda "Diane" Collins; his maternal grandmother, Martha Jeffries and two uncles, Eddie Coats Jr. and William Davis.  He leaves lasting memories to his brothers:  Ulysses Jeffries of Seattle, WA, Robert Jeffries of Havaco and John Leak of Welch; his sisters:  Martha Byrd of Detroit, MI, Vanessa D. Johnson of Northfork, WV, Verna (Joseph Sr.) Diggs of Havaco, Matline "Peanut" Taylor of Columbus, OH and Carmaine D. "Lois" Collins and fiance', Derrick Richardson of Welch; one uncle, Otis (Dee Dee) Jeffries of Atlanta, GA and three generations of nephews and nieces, whom he regarded as his own, which includes; two special nieces, Mahalie Kidada Collins, his caregiver of Havaco and Kendra Collins of Roanoke, VA, a host of other relatives and friends. Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Havaco Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Havaco, where the Reverend Kenneth L. Orr will officiate.  Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, 6605 New Hope Road in Bluewell.  His nephews and nieces will serve as both pallbearers and flower bearers.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m.  Services entrusted to Gregory-Page Funeral Home in Welch.
