District Elder Delores Hubbard Obituary

District Elder Delores C. Hubbard was  born April 15, 1934 in Glen White, WV, to the late Roy L. Pogue Sr. and Lorine Bennett Pogue Cooper.  She attended Stratton High School in Beckley, WV, where she met the love of her life, George L. Hubbard.  She moved to  Greenbrier County at an early age and was married to George at the age of 19.  They became the proud parents of eight children.  Delores gave her life to Christ as a young woman and became a member of Faith Mission Church in Leslie, WV under the pastorate of Willie Schofield, Sr.  In 1982, she became the Pastor of Faith Mission and served faithfully until the Lord released her from that assignment in 2012.  Delores also served as a District Elder in the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World organization.  She had a passion for people and touched many lives through her ministry.  She had a radio broadcast and ministered at the women's prison in Alderson, WV.  She was truly a prayer warrior and soldier for the Lord.  Delores was a pillar of the community and loved by all.  She was hired as the first black sales clerk to work for Sears in Rainelle.  She was also hired as the first black postal clerk in Quinwood, WV and retired from the Postal Service in 1991.  In 2012, she and George moved to McDonough and attended Bible Way Ministries International under the leadership of Apostle Matthew Norwood and Senior Pastor Dr. Monte Norwood.  She served faithfully with the Bread Life Catering Ministry and also sang with the Mother's Board.  On December 23, 2018 at the age of 84 and after a life well lived, she went home to her Heavenly Father.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George L. Hubbard and a son, Rodney L. Hubbard; three brothers, Thomas L. Pogue, Jack Pogue and Dallas Cooper; there sisters, Ruth Pressley, Josephine Wallace and Deanna Sims.  She is survived by two daughters, Gail H. Martin and Robin M. Hubbard-Sherrod (Gerald) and five sons, Perry T. Hubbard (Addie); Damon R. Hubbard (Brenda); Faron A. Hubbard; Kevin D. Hubbard; Jeffrey A. Hubbard (Janice) ; three sisters, Brenda Wally, Drema Waldon and Gloria Cooper; four brothers, Clarence Cooper, Victor Cooper, Greg Cooper and Roger Cooper; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives and friends.    

Service at 12:00 noon on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the Heart of God Ministries 1703 S. Kanawha Street in Beckley, WV.  Interment will follow in Wallace Memorial Cemetery, 16155 Midland Trail W, in Crawley, WV  Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., until the time of Service at the Church.
