Services will be held for Ms. Equilla L. Turpin age 67, of Welch; formerly of Coalwood, who passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at her residence. Equilla was born January 27, 1951 in Coalwood and the daughter of the Eugene and Wilma Turpin. She accepted the Lord as her Savior at an early age and joined (the former) Mt. Zion Church in Coalwood. In February of 2009, she moved to Welch and began attending First United Methodist Church in Welch, where she was received with open arms. She was a 1969 graduate of Big Creek High school and received her Degree in Education from WV State College in Institute. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Quillian Tyrone Turpin Sr., Equilla will be lovingly remembered by her siblings: Eugene "Jerod" Turpin of Pineville and Sandra and husband, George Street of Somerville, NJ; sister-in-law, Hazel Turpin of Hickory, NC; nephews: Quillian II.(Tasha), and Travis, one niece, Teshia; great-nephews: Quillian III,, Travis Isaiah, Marquee and Gavin; great-nieces: Talahni, Syke and Reina; one uncle, Rudolph Wilson of Columbus, OH and two aunts, Marlene Sampson and Jacqueline Miller both of Maryland; a god-sister, Amelia Howard Smith of Toledo, OH and a host of other relatives and friends. Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church on Virginia Avenue in Welch, with the Reverend Olen Butcher-Winfree officiating. Interment will follow in Rest lawn Memorial Gardens on 6605 New Hope Road in Bluewell. Family and friends will serve as both pallbearers and flower bearers. Visitation will be held one hour before Service at the Church.
