Services for Mrs. Helen Agnes Rutledge age 90, of Kyle, who passed away at her home on Wednesday February 21, 2018. She was born March 9, 1927 in Powhatan and the daughter of the Reverend Raymond Harris Sr. and Emma Hutchinson Harris. She was a graduate of Elkhorn High School. She successfully completed her LPN training at Stevens Clinic Hospital, where she retired after being employed for many years. Mrs. Rutledge was a life long member and served as Mother of Mercy Seat Missionary Baptist Church in Kyle, and a member and former director of the Senior Choir. . She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and the Heroines of Jericho Lodge. Also, a former member of the Board of Directors for the Commission on Aging in Welch. . In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Rutledge; her daughter, Debby, and siblings: Edward, Ernest, Otha and Raymond Harris Jr. one brother-in-law, Melvin Swanson and sisters-in-law: Essie, Vonnie K. and Lola Harris. She leaves cherished memories to her son, Daryll Y. Ruthledge of the home; two siblings, James S. Harris and Mayme Swanson both of Ohio; her special niece, Barbara ":Peaches" Hairston of High Point, NC; a host of nephews and other nieces; many friends and special friends, Geraldine Calloway of Elkhorn and Marie Scales of Gary; her Church family and caregiver, Dina Bryson of Kyle. Her Home going Celebration will be held at 12:00 noon, on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Mercy Seat Baptist Church in Kyle, WV, with Pastor Walter E. Clay officiating.. Entombment will follow in Rest lawn Mausoleum on 6605 New Hope Road in Bluewell. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., until time of Service at the Church. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations be made to Mercy Seat Missionary Baptist Church P.O. Box 10, Kyle, WV 24855.
