Mrs. Helen Stallworth Obituary

Mrs. Helen "Brownie" Stallworth resided in Bluefield, VA and was a long time resident of Capels, WV, who peacefully passed away early, on Wednesday morning at BRMC in Bluefield, WV.   She was born in Thomas, AL on  August 7, 1928, and the daughter of the late Harrison Sr. and Velma (Cooper) King.  She was a high school honors' graduate and a devoted homemaker, wife and mother.   For many, many years she was a faithful member of Royal Baptist Church and the Chorus in Capels and in recent years joined First A.M.E. Zion Church in Bluefield, WV.  In earlier years, she was an active member of the Lily of the Valley Court of Calanthe.  She was a Christian lady who loved her family, and others.  It was always her joy to help anyone she could. She enjoyed singing, dancing and watching day time television.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack D. Sr.; three sons:  Ronald, Lee and Donald; three brothers:  Harrison Jr., Willie and Ernest; three sisters: Evelyn, Mable and Roberta; two granddaughters, Chrissy and Taneka and two great-grandchildren, Daniel and MaKayla.  She was the last surviving member of her original family.  Those left to cherish her beautiful memory include her children:  Jack D. Jr., and Ruben Stallworth both of Capels, Anita (Theodore) Winfree of Keystone, WV, Rosie Jackson of Welch, WV, Carmella Macon of Birmingham, AL, Roselle Stallworth of Margaret, AL: and Zanetta "Michelle" Stallworth with whom she made her home of Bluefield, VA; special grandson and caregiver, whom she regarded as her son,  La'Dre Stallworth of the home; and a host of grand, great and great-great-grandchildren; several generations of nephews and nieces and special son-in-law and caregiver, Tony Thomas; special friends:  Geneva Collins, Ethel Mullins, Bettye Poole and Sharon DeShazo; two additional caregivers, Shaeteria Mosley and Carolyn Ingram.   Mrs. Stallworth's Homegoing Celebration Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at the First A.M.E. Zion Church in Bluefield, WV, with Pastor Justina Young officiating.  Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Bluewell, WV.  Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., at the Church.
