Mrs. Idella V. Redd-Bethel

Mrs. Idella V. Redd-Bethel, age 75, of (Powahatan) Kyle, WV, who peacefully departed this life on Saturday, September 9, 2017 in Winston-Salem, NC, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on the 14th day of February, 1942 in Powhatan, and the youngest child of the late John Robert and Lula Mae (Manns)  Redd.  She was known as "the Rock of the Family," and affectionately known as "Boo-Boo," a graduate of Elkhorn High School and attended Bluefield State College, where she was a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. She was a life long member of Mercy Seat Baptist Church.  To her family, she was a resident nurse, a farmer, a mechanic, a veterinarian, chef and a carpenter that never took any time for herself.  She took care of everyone's children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces; cousin, brother, sister, mother and brother-in-law.  All we can say is, "Wow what a Woman!" Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, SFC James Walter Bethel; three brothers:  John, Thomas and Charles Redd; five sisters:  Betty Jean Redd, Odessa Morgan, Regina Cabbell, Annie Wagstaff and Cora Davis.  She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Andrea Monica Bethel, her son, Billy Joe Bethel; grandchildren: Danielle Bethel, Sabrina Jones, Shamecca and Princess Perkins, Joana and Ahmed Bethel; her great-granddaughter, Aiyana Powell and special great-grandson, DeAndre Barnes; her sisters, Catherine Johnson and Mayme Woody; her special nieces, Carolyn Cabbell and Augustine Lewis; special nephew, Bobby (Gwen) Redd, who were always by her side; a host of nephews, nieces and cousins; other relatives, her Mercy Seat family and friends. A Home going Celebration Service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Mercy Seat Baptist Church in Kyle, WV, with Pastor Walter E. Clay, officiating.  Interment will follow in Rest lawn Memorial Gardens, on Rt. 20, Littlesburg Road in Bluewell, WV.  Nephews and nieces will serve as both pallbearers and flower bearers.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., until time of Service.
