Pauline G. Eldridge

Mrs. Pauline G. Eldridge age 96, a life long resident of Welch, WV, who peacefully departed this life on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at The Maples in Bluefield, WV.  She was born November 29, 1922 in Welch and one of nine children born to James and Cornelia Harris.  She was a life long member of St. James Baptist Church in Welch, where she served as Mother of the Church, Deaconess, member of the Senior Choir, Missionary Society and Trustee Board.  In addition to being an amazing homemaker and cook and, she was employed as a domestic engineer for several prominent families in Welch.  She enjoyed watching day time television and the golf tournaments.  Also, she enjoyed keeping in touch with family and friends by telephone.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Philip B. Eldridge Sr., one son, Edward B. Eldridge; her daughter, (in-law), Charlene Eldridge and six of her siblings: James, Mabel, Margaret, Marian, Robert and Thelma.  She will be greatly missed by her sons, Charles R. Eldridge I., of Arlington, TX and Philip B Eldridge Jr. of Welch; her grandchildren:  the Elder Diane Eldridge-Holt and her husband, Pastor Kenneth Jr., Philip B. "Boo" Eldridge III., and his significant other, Allison Freeman, Rayvalane Francis and her husband, James, Kimberly Henderson, Dione Eldridge, Charles Eldridge II., and Kimmy Gerrod Eldridge and his wife, Fanetta; 12 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Naomi Boyd of Washington, DC and Frances Mayes and her husband, Nazarene of Dayton, OH; several generations of nephews and nieces; her cousins, Church family and caregiver, Brenda Martin of Welch.  Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, December 21, 2018 at St. James Missionary Baptist Church 315 Court Street in Welch, with the Reverend George Masterson officiating, assisted by the Elder Diane Eldridge-Holt and Pastor Kenneth Holt Jr.  Entombment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, 6605 New Hope Road in Bluewell.   Family and friends will serve as both pallbearers and flower bearers.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m.,  until the time of Service.
