Reginald L. "Reggie" Hairston

December 21, 1947 ~ January 3, 2018 (age 70) 70 Years Old


Services will be held for Deacon Reginald L. "Reggie" Hairston, age 70, of High Point, NC and Kyle, WV, who departed this life on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 in High Point.   He was born December 21, 1947 in Powhatan, and the son of the late John and Elaine (Rucker) Hairston.  Reggie was a 1965 graduate of Elkhorn High School, a Veteran of the U.S. Army and formerly employed by EACC in Keystone.  He accepted Christ at an early age at Mercy Seat Baptist Church, where was ordained as a deacon on June 12, 2010.  Reggie was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Shelia Hairston and brother, Blaine Hairston; grandparents, John and Emma Hairston, William and Priscilla Rucker and his parents-in-law, Vonnie and Earnest Harris Sr.; brother-in-law, Earnest Harris Jr.  Reggie will be affectionately missed by his wife, Barbara "Peaches," of 49 years and into this union two sons were born, Dwayne (Letha) Hairston of Baltimore, MD and Derrick (Dawn) Hairston of High Point;.  Two other children, William Powell and Latoya Woody.  Six grandchildren:  Dontae, Christopher, Darius, Raven, Damien and Donita, five great-grands; two brothers, John (Lillian) and Jeffrey (Cecilia)  Hairston, two sisters, Sonia Witcher all of Wilksboro, NC and Audra (Troy) Graves of High Point; one aunt, Shirley Rucker of Elkhorn.  He will be greatly missed by his nieces and nephews; cousins, Mercy Seat family and special friends too numerous to name; four sisters-in-law: Virgie Harris, Betty Poteat, Deborah Hairston and Karen Hairston. Reginald's Services will begin at 12:00 noon on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Mercy Seat Baptist Church in Kyle, with Pastor Walter E. Clay, Elder Jessie Fields and Reverend Wayman Rucker officiating.  Interment will follow at Rest lawn Memorial Gardens on Rt. 20, Littlesburg Road in Bluewell, where burial rites will be performed by VFW Post 1144 of Iaeger.  His grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers and granddaughters and nieces as flower bearers.  Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., until the time of Service at the Church.
