Thomas D. "Toodie" Vineyard III.

Thomas D. "Toodie" Vineyard III. age 52, a long time resident of Gary, WV, who departed this life on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 in Beckley, WV at the VA Medical  Center. He was born November 18, 1964 in New York and the son of the late Thomas D. Vineyard Jr. and Jacquelyn Valentine Vineyard.  He was a 1984 graduate of Mount View High School and an honorably discharged Veteran of the U.S. Navy.   He attended College and worked as an agent for Combined Insurance Company for several years.  He was a member of both Apostolic Temple Church in Gary and the Gary Lion's Club.  For the past 10 months, he served as Mayor for the City of Gary, was a former Councilman for Ward IV and Vice-President of the McDowell County Tourism. He was a football coach at MVHS, an assistant baseball coach for MVMS and President of New Hope Little League.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Jasmine and Shenique; one brother, Dana and his mother-in-law, Dorothy Brown.  Survived by his (life partner of 30 years) and wife of 23 years, Kishon "Bunny," their children:  Tashaan D. I, Chantel S., Khiamani A., and Daner T. Vineyard all of the home; Michael Diggs of Havaco and foster children, Kenneth and Milyasha Adams of the home; one grandson, Tashaan II, siblings:  Timothy (Jennifer), Terry (Jacqueline), Jacqueline and Tiara Vineyard and Tammy Adams; two aunts, Ramona Robinson and Kaye F. Hamilton; step-father-in-law, Harold Brown, step-mother, Wilberta Vineyard; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law:  James (Felicia) and Michael (Erica) Horton, Kenneth (Cassandra) and Harold (Sabrina) Brown, Kimberly (Brian) Smith and Monica Brown; a host of nephews and nieces; a multitude of cousins and friends; which includes; special friends of the family: Tracy Allison, Yolanda Keith and his USS Suribachi AE-21 brothers. Services will be helld at 12:00 noon on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at MVHS, Bob N. Jack Auditorium in Welch, with Elder Kenneth Brown officiating.  Entombment will follow in Restlawn Mausoleum on Rt. 20, Littllesburg Road in Bluewell, where burial rites will be performed by VFW Post 1144 of Iaeger.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., until time of Service at the Auditorium.
