Betty Walden Obituary

Mrs.  Betty Lou Thomas Walden, a long time resident of Kimball, West Virginia departed this life on Monday, February 19, 2024 in Blacksburg, Virginia. She was born in Big Sandy, West Virginia on the 10th day of November, 1939 and the daughter of Ira Sr., and Dora J. (Tuck) Thomas.  She was a graduate of Kimball High School and received an Associate Degree in Business Administration.  After moving to Kimball, she joined First Baptist Church and served as a recording secretary.  In earlier years, she was employed as a secretary at Kimball High School, and later retired from the McDowell County Board of Education as a secretary at Mount View High School.  Until failing health, Betty was a faithful member of Beulah Missionary Baptist Church in Big Sandy, where she served as an Usher and was known for her delicious cakes and macaroni and cheese dishes whenever dinners were served.  Betty was an immaculate homemaker, always taking great pride in caring for her Family.  She enjoyed shopping and listening to her most favorite musical artists, Prince and Luther Vandross.  Betty was known as an avid fan of baseball, basketball and football.  She was a very classy lady, with a humble, quiet spirit.  She was indeed an example of the Proverbs 31 woman.  Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Ira Sr., and Dora; her husband, Ronald C. "Ronnie" Walden; one son-in-law, Lawrence White and four of her siblings:  Eileen, Ira Jr., Lloyd and Willie Thomas.  Betty will be forever cherished by her daughter, Tanjia Walden White, with whom she made her home and her son, William C. Walden II., her only brother, Albert and his wife, Doris Thomas; her grandchildren:  Shanice White, Daijha Brown, Jasmine Walden and D'Andre Walden;  several nephews and nieces; her Church family, friends and special friends, Joyce Davila and Dolly (Milton) Smith.  A Celebration of her well lived life will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, February 26, 2024 at Beulah Missionary Baptist Church with the Reverend George Masterson officiating.  Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens 6605 New Hope Road in Bluewell, West Virginia.  Family and friends will serve as both pallbearers and flower bearers.  Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM at the Church.  Services entrusted to Gregory-Page Funeral Home in Welch, West Virginia.
