Charles Stephfon Glenn

Charles Stephfon “Hop” Glenn, 59 of Upper Marlboro, Maryland passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland.  He was born on November 2, 1960 in Fairmont, West Virginia to the late William Charles Glenn and Dorothy Musett Link.  

Stephfon was baptized at Morning Star Baptist Church in Fairmont, West Virginia. He graduated from North High School in Columbus, Ohio in 1979 and later received certification from Fort Hayes Vocation School as a Surgical Technician.  He moved to the Washington, DC/Maryland area in 1983 and worked for the Center for Ambulatory Services Inc., and the Center for Cosmetic Surgery both in Washington, DC.  He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Physician Assistant from Howard University in 2000 and went to work in Lanham, Maryland at Doctors Community Hospital in their Physician Assistant Department for the next 15 years.  From there, Stephfon was employed by Capital Orthopedics in Lanham, Maryland for several years.  His current position was with the federal contractor, U.S. Got People on Andrews Air Force Base in their Orthopedic Clinic.

Stephfon's true passion was his volunteer and medical mission work.  He was a valued member of several medical teams that conducted clinics in Guyana, Nicaragua, Haiti, Jamaica and Kenya.  Not only did he give his time and talents on these teams, he provided donated medical supplies, tablets, books, clothing and school fees for the children in the villages he served. 

Stephfon was recognized for his annual mission work in Jamaica by the Jamaica Awareness Association of California and had the honor of Ethlyn’s Hope, Inc. naming the boys wing after him in the orphanage they built in Kenya.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a loving aunt and his other mother, Rebecca D. Link Miller; and brothers, Audrey Link and Jerry C. Miller.

Survivors include brothers, Alfred Link of Queens, New York; Edward Jean Link of Tucson, Arizona; Thomas Link of Buffalo, Maryland; Michael Link and Charles (Stephanee) Miller both of Columbus, Ohio; sisters, Rita (Fiance,Thomas) Towns and Donna (Gary) Link both of Columbus, Ohio; Doris Miller of Lexington, Kentucky; Cassandra (Keith) Gregory of Williamson, West Virginia; Lynn Miller of Columbus, Ohio and Barbra (James) Bull of Richmond, Virginia; a dear and loving special friend, Carrol Barnes; goddaughter, Miya Barnes and his grandson, Carson Wilson all of Laurel, Maryland; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Private Graveside Services for the Columbus Family will be held at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 5600 E. Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio.  A Memorial Service in Maryland will be scheduled at a later date.  Services are entrusted to Gregory-Page Funeral Home in Welch, West Virginia.
