Christine Heilig Obituary

Ms. Christine White Heilig age 73, resided in Durham, North Carolina; formerly of Christiansburg, Virginia, peacefully departed this life on Sunday, February 23, 2025 in Raleigh, North Carolina, following illness.

Christine or Chris as she was known to her family and friends was born in Northfork, West Virginia on December 1, 1951.  She was one of nine children born into the very loving parentage of William "Bill" Sr.,  and Maggie (Taylor) White.

Chris was raised in Northfork and a 1969 graduate of Northfork High School.  She was a life long member of First Baptist Church in Northfork.  Wherever this life's journey took her, Northfork was always her heart's home.  While living in McDowell County, she was employed for many, many years at the Council of Southern Mountains, had worked at a  Doctor's (Dr. Anderson) Office, also was employed by the McDowell County Commission on Aging all located in Welch, West Virginia.  After relocating to Christiansburg, she was employed for 23 years as an Instructional Assistant in the Blacksburg, Virginia School System.  Chris was a member of the O.E.S., Chapter No. 28 in Northfork. 

Chris was a lady of her word.   As her parents, Bill and Maggie raised their children to be responsible, respectful, to fear God and to obey the laws of the land.  She loved her family dearly and always gave to each of them her wholehearted support.

Chris was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Yolanda Jackson and her former husband and the father of her children, Garnett Heilig Sr.

Christine leaves a life time of cherished, treasured memories to her son, Garnett Jr., and his wife, Tanishia Heilig of Durham, North Carolina and her daughter, Tiffini and her husband, Marcus Price of Fairburn, Georgia; her grandchildren, Na'Jah Lemons, Ny'Keria Fralin, Gabrielle "Missy" Heilig and Tristan Chestnut; one great-grandchild, Leighton Diehl; her niece and god-daughter, Brianna White; her very devoted siblings:  William Jr., and his wife, Renee White of Northfork, Leslie Hopkins of Roanoke, Virginia, Reginald and his wife, Diane White of Rich Square, North Carolina, Robert and his wife, Regina White, Vanessa and her husband, Marcus Wilkes and Robbin and her husband, Donald Hairston all of Northfork and Kenneth L. (wife Sharon, deceased) White of Aurora, Colorado and Darlene and her husband, Darrell Kent of Statesville, North Carolina; a special nephew, Clifton and his wife, Ashanti Johnson and a host of additional nephews and nieces; her cousins, friends and (special friend), William "Smitty" Smith.     

A Celebration of Life Service for Ms. Christine White Heilig will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at First  Missionary Baptist Church 123 Barker Street in Northfork, West Virginia  with Pastor Eugene Watson eulogist and the Reverend James J. Palmer III., presiding.   Interment, 12:00 noon on Monday, March 10, 2025 at Restlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery 6605 New Hope Road in Bluewell, West Virginia.  Visitation, 10:00 AM on Saturday at the Church.  Services entrusted to Gregory-Page Funeral Home in Welch.
