Damita J. "Toe-Toe" Swain

Mrs. Damita J. "Toe-Toe" Swain age 66 of Welch, WV who departed this life on Thursday, March 3, 2022 in the comforts of her home.  She was born and lived the greater part of her life in Wilcoe, WV.  Damita was born on the 21st day of January in 1956 and the sixth child of Alexander Hylton and Evelyn (Saunders) Harmon.  Damita, who was lovingly known as "Toe-Toe,"  joined First Baptist Church in Wilcoe at an early age.  She was a graduate of Gary High School and became a homemaker.  She enjoyed cooking; especially crock pot recipes, was a vegetable gardener and enjoyed mountain walks.  Damita was independent and very happy when she became a licensed driver and to have her own vehicle.  Damita was an avid news and all sports' television fan who kept a close watch on politics and politicians.  Her desire was to see the City of Welch and McDowell County prosperous and  thriving as it was in earlier times.  Damita was preceded in death by her parents and siblings:  Ronnie and Gerodd (Sharon) Harmon, Amelda (Edward Jr.) Wade and Sandra Hopkins.  Damita loved her Family dearly. She had a nice, thoughtful and caring spirit and will be remembered by her only brother, Tyrone Harmon of Alexandria, VA and a host of nephews, nieces and cousins; a devoted niece, Rhonda Wade of Washington, DC; her sister-in-law, Betty Harmon and brother-in-law, Roger Hopkins both of Maryland; her former husband and best friend, William Swain of Elbert, WV; her neighbors and the Staff at the Payne Building in Welch.  A Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Damita J. Harmon Swain will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at the Restlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, 6605 New Hope Road in Bluewell, WV with the Reverend George Masterson officiating.  Entombment will follow in the  Restlawn Mausoleum.  Pallbearers will be her Relatives and friends.  Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., until the time of Service.  Services entrusted to Gregory-Page Funeral Home in Welch, (to leave online condolences:  gregory-pagefh.com.)  Please be advised both COVID Protocol and the wearing of masks will be followed.
