Darrell L. Darden Sr.

Darrell Lee Darden Sr., age 70, a life long resident of Kimball, WV departed this life on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 in the VA Medical Center, Beckley, WV following a lengthy illness.  He was born in Kimball on the 19th day of April, 1952 into the very loving parentage of Sam Jr. and Grace (Allensworth) Darden.  Darrell was a 1972 graduate of Welch High School and attended Bluefield State College.  He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having honorably served his Country.  Darrell had held several positions in the Workforce, and was last employed as a telephone installer in Charlotte, NC.  In earlier years he was a member of Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church in Kimball, where he had served as a Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent and a Teacher, member of the Building Fund Committee and a former President of the Hilltop Christian Education.  Darrell loved his family and was an avid sports' fan.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Walter and Annie Dixon and Sam Sr. and Freddie Darden.  Darrell leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 42 years, Arnetta Neal Darden and children:  Darrell L. Darden Jr., and Harold Neal both of Kimball and Keshia Neal of Charlotte, NC; three brothers:  William and wife, Clinetta Darden of Ohio, George and wife, Sharon Darden of Georgia and Keith and wife, Judi Darden of Ohio; his sisters, Patricia and husband, John Thomas of Ohio and Sharon and husband, Steve Wiggins of California; his 10 grandchildren:  Tiara Neal, Shaquille Hale, Destiny Robertson, Taiesha Pannell, Jamaica Toney, Darrick Robertson, Taishawna Pannell, Jazmine Alexander, Cheyenne Mitchell and Deionne Robertson;  two uncles, Stanley and wife, Dawn Dixon of Missouri and Lovell Darden of New Jersey and one aunt, Peggy Owens of New York; brother-in-law, Jerry Neal of North Carolina and sister-in-law, Mildred and husband, Ellis Thomas of Bluefield, WV;  a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church in Kimball with the Reverend George Masterson officiating.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM.  Interment is scheduled for 12:00 PM on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at Southwest Veterans Cemetery 5550 Bagging Plant Road in Dublin, VA.   Services entrusted to Gregory-Page Funeral Home in Welch.
