Darrell McDaniel Obituary

Darrell Maurice (aka Rene) McDaniel, who resided at 45 Riverside Drive in Welch, WV; formerly of Capels, WV was born in Welch on the 19th day of July, 1957 into the loving parentage of Clarence D. "GI" Sr. and Wilma V. (McMillian) McDaniel.  He attended public schools and was a graduate of Welch High School.  At an early age, he was baptized and joined Royal Baptist Church in Capels.  He was known as a "jack of all trades," as he easily completed whatever tasks that were placed before him.  He was last employed as a construction worker in NC.  He was known as an avid fisherman, who enjoyed football and going into the mountains during ginseng season.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four of his siblings:  Alla Kay Valentine, Barbara A. Tate, Clarence "Prenkie" Jr. and Edward "Scamp" McDaniel.  Early on Saturday, November 7, 2020 following a long illness, Darrell departed this life at the Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV.
  Those left to cherish his memory:   one daughter, Brooke L. (Bradley) Walls-Walker and grandchildren, Kaden and Sophia all of Bluefield, WV; his siblings:  Rita Y. Shelton of Atlanta, GA, Deborah J. (Cornice Sr.) Bell of Roanoke, VA, Sharon C. DeShazo of Capels, Dina Y. Bryson of Kyle, WV, Robert McDaniel of Fayetteville, NC and Cassandra Stone of Roanoke; several generations of cousins, nieces and nephews; which includes special nephews:  James DeShazo II., Cornice Bell Jr. and Wesley Lemons; his extended family, Phil and Pat Bias of Welch; his special brother, Michael (Tricia) Vaughn of Hemphill, WV and a host of Capels-Welch neighbors and friends.  Service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Royal Kingdom Ministries in Capels, with the Reverends: George Masterson, Stephon Smith and William R. Spencer eulogist.  Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m.  Services entrusted to Gregory-Page Funeral Home in Welch ( to leave online condolences:  www.gregory-pagefh.com.)  Social distancing and wearing of masks will be observed.
