Darryl L. "Rip" Cannady

Darryl  L. "Rip" Cannady of Keystone, West Virginia departed this life on Friday, December 5, 2025 at WVU Medicine (Princeton Community) Hospital in Princeton, West Virginia.  

He was born on July 14, 1962 in Brooklyn, New York, into the parentage of Benjamin and Joanne Hale Cannady.  He grew up in Brooklyn and was a graduate of Park West High School.  Also, he attended culinary schools while living in Brooklyn.  

After making his home in West Virginia and in the early 1990's, Darryl became the Founding Director of South Central Educational Development Center on Bland Street in Bluefield, West Virginia.  He had faithfully served in that capacity until his passing.  

Darryl's love of cooking led him to the opening of Bennady's Bar & Grill in Northfork, West Virginia.  His most favorite past times were spent cooking, listening to music and caring for his green plants.  Also, he was known as a part time "DJ."

Darryl was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Joanne and one brother, Donald "Donnie" Cannaday.

Darryl leaves a life time of treasured memories to his sisters, Michelle (Ambrose) Cannady Moore and Sandra (Billy) Cannady Williams both of Brooklyn, New York; three nephews:  Dana Cannady, Eric Hood and David Cannady; one niece, Kalenna Cannady; several great-nephews, great-nieces and a host of cousins and friends.  

Arrangements for Darryl L. Cannady entrusted to Gregory-Page Funeral Home in Welch, West Virginia.   

**Bennady's Bar & Grill at 33550 Coal Heritage Road in Northfork will be open on Saturday, December 20, 2025 where his family will receive friends and relatives.  Refreshments will be served from 12:00 noon until 5:00 PM.**
