Military Rites will be conducted for Jeff Hazzard age 85, of 37 Tidewater Street in Kimball, WV, who peacefully, departed this life on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 in the comforts of his home, surrounded by his son and loving caregivers. He was born January 31, 1935 in Abingdon, VA, and the son of the late Roosevelt and Susie Mae (Clark) Hazzard. He was a graduate of both Kimball High School and Bluefield State College. He was an honorably discharged Veteran of the United States Army. For a number of years, he was a coal miner at Cannelton Coal Company in Superior, WV and a member and local secretary of the UMWA. In 2010, he joined Little Rock Church of Christ in Northfork, WV, where he served as a Deacon. In earlier years, he was a member of (the former) Shiloh Baptist Church in Maitland, WV. Throughout the years, he enjoyed both hunting and fishing; sight seeing while riding his motorcycle and watching television. In addition to his father and mother, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian; one son, Victor; two brothers, Bill and Sam Sr., and his sisters, Josephine and Bertha. He is survived by his son, Cyrus Johnson of Bluefield, WV, three daughters: Wendy Witcher, and Vaness Witcher both of Columbus, OH and Yvonne Johnson of Thorpe, WV; his twin brother, Jerry (Nadine) Hazzard of Newport News, VA and brother-in-law, William (Rebecca) Beaver of East Orange, NJ; his devoted caregiver, Brenda Martin of Welch, WV, and a host of nephews and nieces; cousins and friends. Military Rites will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., on Monday, November 23, 2020 at Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery 5550 Bagging Plant Road in Dublin, VA. Services entrusted to Gregory-Page Funeral Home in Welch, (to leave online condolences: gregory-pagefh.com.) Social distancing and wearing of mask will be observed.
