Doris Marie Hankins

Ms. Doris Marie Hankins resided at 93 McDowell Street in Welch, West Virginia, where she peacefully, departed this life early, on Monday, January 6, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Welch, West Virginia on December 10, 1955 and the daughter of the late Katherine Hankins.  She attended public schools in McDowell County and after moving to Detroit, Michigan received her GED.  She completed Cosmetology School and became a licensed hair dresser.  Doris was a member of Faith Clinic Church of God in Christ in Detroit.  Although she had no biological children, she was a mother to many.  Approximately 10 years ago, she moved and worked in Tennessee. 

In addition to her Mother, Doris was preceded in death by two brothers, Clifford and Curtis Hankins.   Doris leaves to cherish her memory, three sisters:  Sharon Lee Hankins of Charleston, West Virginia, Shelby Jean Hankins of Detroit, Michigan and Edith Marie  "Edie" Hankins of Welch, with whom she had made her home;  three godchildren:  Quintin, Quinton and Gabrielle Howard; a host of devoted nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.  A private family viewing and Service was held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.  Services entrusted to Gregory-Page Funeral Home in Welch.
