Elder Elizabeth V. Fitzgerald

Elder Mrs. Elizabeth .V  Baldwin Fitzgerald, age 88, who resided in Galax, VA; formerly of Anawalt, WV,  went home to be with the Lord, early on Saturday, June 29, 2019, surrounded by her loved ones in the comforts of her home. She was born  August  13, 1930 in Anawalt, and the daughter of the late Augustus and Lenora (Hill) Baldwin.  She lived in Anawalt the greater part of her life and was a member of Mt. Bethel United Holy Church, where she had faithfully served for many, many years as a Choir member and president, Sunday School teacher and Missionary Society member.  She enjoyed visiting the nursing homes and had served as a volunteer at Bluefield Regional Medical Center.. After moving to Galax 10 years ago, she became the Mother of the New Harvest Christian Worship Center and chairperson of the Building Fund.  She was known for her creative, daily writings, was an outstanding cook and she enjoyed sewing.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard A. Fitzgerald Jr., her brothers: James, William, Joseph and Alphonso Baldwin; her sisters:  Irene Baldwin, Katie Jordan, Ada Dickerson and Ethel Frazier.  She leaves a lifetime of cherished memories to her son, Pastor Richard (Carolyn) Fitzgerald of Galax, with whom she made her home; her daughters: Kay (Webster) Gilbreath  of Huntington, Lenora (Timothy) Mayo of MD,  Ninette Smith of GA,  Iris (Ray) Nemore, Orita Fitzgerald-Waller, Debora Braxton and Faith Markham all of NC; 17 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; her siblings:  Mattie B. Edwards of NY, Gussie Williams and Ruth Clemons both of TX, and Enoch (Betty) Baldwin of GA;.a host of nephews, nieces; her Church families; many other relatives and friends. Sister Fitzgerald's Homegoing Service will be held at 12:00 p.m., on Friday, July 5, 2019 at Mt. Bethel United Holy Church in Anawalt, with Pastor Virginia Rucker officiating. Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Bluewell, WV.  Family and friends will serve as both pallbearers and flower bearers.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., until time of Service at the Church.    Services entrusted to Gregory-Page Funeral Home in Welch.
