Elder Kenneth Lane Obituary

Elder Kenneth M. Lane of Bluefield, West Virginia, departed this life on Saturday, June 7, 2025 in the comforts of his home, surrounded by his loving wife, Rosa and family. 

Born in Welch, West Virginia, on March 22, 1965 into the parentage of James H. Sr. and Ella J. Woody Lane who resided in Vivian, West Virginia.  After completing his high school education, he attended Bluefield State College.  Ken held Bachelors of Science Degrees in General Education, Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice.  Also, an Associate Degree in Social Science.  While in McDowell County, he was employed as a Teacher by the McDowell County Board of Education and was a Truancy Officer for the Children's Home Society of West Virginia.  After relocating to Bluefield, he was employed by the Mercer County Board of Education as a Substitute Teacher. 

Ken loved the Lord.  He was a holy, righteous man of God and in his earlier years gave his whole heart to the Lord.  He always considered others before himself and for well over 40 years, he was a faithful member of Emmanuel Tabernacle Church in Kimball, West Virginia.  He was an ordained Deacon, who had served well.   Later he was ordained as a Minister and Elder.  He enjoyed traveling with his wife, his family and his Church family.  He was a mentor and father figure to the young men in his neighborhood, encouraging them to be all that they could be.  He never failed to encourage them and others to seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness.   Ken enjoyed shopping for himself and especially for his wife. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers'  fan.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, James Sr. and Ella; his parents-in-love, Jacqueline and  James Corey Hale; five of his brothers:  James, William, Frank, Cornelius and Anthony Lane and one sister, Jacqueline Akunne and two of his grandchildren, DeeShaun and Shaundee Henderson. 

Ken leaves a life time of cherished, treasured memories to his very loving and faithful wife of 43 years, Evangelist Rosa Marie Hale Lane and their four beautiful, devoted daughters:  Angenetta (her fiance', Chawn Martin) Lane of Bluefield, Virginia, Shauna Lane, Shaunetta Lane and Shauntae Lane all of Bluefield, West Virginia; his grandbabies:  Jamir, Javion, Jaron, Jevon, Shalee, Leoni and Skylar; his five siblings:  Hubert and his wife, Noreen Lane of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, Howard and his wife, Rosa Lane of Charlotte, North Carolina, Sherdina Lane of Landover, Maryland, Minister Audrey Lane and Denise Lane both of Towsen, Maryland; his many brothers and sisters in love; several generations of nephews, nieces and cousins; his aunt, Gloria Wilson of Welch; his Church family; a special friend, Dr. James T. Martin of Beckley, West Virginia  and many other friends. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at the Faith Center Church 102 Federal Street in Bluefield, West Virginia with Bishop Edward Mitchell officiating, assisted by:  Minister Tamara Eubanks, Pastor George Masterson and Pastor James Redd Jr.  Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 6605 New Hope Road in Bluewell, West Virginia.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, until the time of Service.  Family and friends will serve as both pallbearers and flower bearers.
