Erik Monroe Brown (a.k.a. Cork), age 43, resided at 70 Little Egypt Road in Havaco, West Virginia. Early on Sunday, August 11, 2024, Erik departed this life in Welch Community Hospital. Erik was born September 14, 1980 in Welch, West Virginia and the youngest son of Jerome A. "Alex" Sr., and Hazel Y. (Baylor) Brown. He grew up in Havaco and was a graduate of Mount View High School. Erik had a calm, quiet, easygoing spirit. He loved football and was an avid fan of the New England Patriots. Also, he enjoyed listening to R&B, his most favorite music. Erik was preceded in death by his loving parents, Jerome Sr., "Alex" and Hazel and two of his sisters, Jermaine Brown and Jennifer Brown; his maternal grandparents, Blanche Baylor and Jay Flower and paternal grandparents, Walter Sr., and Ethel Brown; several aunts and uncles: Bonnie Brown, Eulalia "Jean" Headen, Sandra and her husband, Arthur Wesley and Donald and his wife, Fannie Baylor. He leaves cherished memories to: his daughter, Meah Brown "his heartbeat," of Welch; his devoted brothers: Jerome Brown Jr., Terry Headen, Jerry Headen Jr., Michael Brown, Myron Brown and his devoted sister, Michelle Brown all of Havaco; his devoted uncles and aunts: Buford and his wife, Wilma Brown of Havaco, Jasper "Jerry" Headen Sr., of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Harold (his wife, Dorothy, deceased) Brown of Gary, West Virginia, Carol (her husband, Carlvene, deceased) Neely of Merrillville, Indiana, Kenneth "Kenny" and his wife, Pernie Brown and Darryl "Pete" and his wife, Margaret Brown both of Havaco, Sharon Brown of Raleigh, North Carolina; James and his wife, Barbara Baylor of Bluefield, West Virginia, Sheila and her husband, Lee Mosely of Flint, Michigan and Kelly and her husband, Robert Alexander of Radford, Virginia; a host of nephews and nieces; numerous cousins and friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Havaco Temple Baptist Church in Havaco, with Overseer Anthony J. Bell eulogist, Reverend George Masterson, assisting and Reverend Kenneth L. Orr, presiding. Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon. Services entrusted to Gregory-Page Funeral Home in Welch.
