Geneva F. Collins

Mrs. Geneva Franklin Collins age 93, a long time resident of Capels, WV who was called from labor to reward on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 in (Newton) Hickory, NC where she had lived for the past four years.  She was born in Lancaster, PA on the 24th day of October, 1928 and the daughter of the late Charles and Irene (Massie) Franklin.  She was a devoted, loving wife to her husband, the late Eugene Collins for over 50 years and was a devoted, loving Mother to her Children.  Before moving to NC and her health would allow, she was a very faithful member of the Royal Baptist Church in Capels and the Chorus.  Her pastimes were spent watching her most favorite television game shows:  The Price Is Right, Wheel Of Fortune and Jeopardy.  She loved visiting her family and friends and was a very skilled driver, even beyond her years.  In addition to her parents, Charles and Irene Franklin and her husband, Deacon Eugene Collins, Mrs. Collins was preceded in death by one daughter, Barbara Jean Collins and her granddaughter, Robyn Collins Anderson; six siblings:  Bill and George Franklin, Aileen Chapman, Irene Sandusky, Mable Lancaster and Mildred Thompson.  Mrs. Collins lived a "Blessed Life," with a heart full of love for her Family and others.  She was a faithful supporter of the St. Jude's Foundation for Children and the last surviving member of her original family.  A life time of wonderful memories will be shared by her children:   Gloria (Booker T.) Wider of Woodbridge, VA, Mary Collins Isabelle of Bluefield, WV, Hazel Collins Turpin, Beverly (Elwood) Hairston and Geneva P. Collins all of Hickory, Larry D. Collins, of Riverdale, GA, Charles P. Collins of Hickory and Melvin F. Collins of Port St. Lucie, FL; a loving grandmother to her 15 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren; a host of nephews, nieces and cousins; a special family member, Shavonne Pack-Wilson and a loving childhood friend, Mrs. Betty Poole.  In Remembrance of Mrs. Collins, her Family, Loved Ones and Friends will Celebrate her well-lived life at 12:00 noon on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at the Restlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel 6605 New Hope Road in Bluewell, WV with Pastor Earl Thompson officiating.  Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.  Her Family and friends will serve as both pallbearers and flower bearers.  Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m.  Services entrusted to Gregory-Page Funeral Home in Welch, WV, (to leave online condolences:  gregory-pagefh.com.)
