Mrs. Helen K. Barnes age 93 departed this life on February 16, 2023, in Genesis Dunbar Center, Dunbar, WV.  She was born on December 8, 1929 in Lynchburg, VA to the late Aaron and Nellie Hosley Nowlin.  Helen grew up in Williamson, WV with her parents and siblings.

She was employed at Williamson Memorial Hospital and worked in the Laundry and Linen Services Department for many years.

Helen had a strong faith and deep love for Christ and attended church regularly before her health failed her.  She was always willing and ready to share Christ with others. She loved reading and studying the Bible. She was an avid follower of Joyce Meyers and Creflo Dollar. She loved to watch old westerns (Rawhide, Bonanza, The Rifleman, The Lone Ranger, etc.)  In her earlier years, she loved to entertain and make home cooked meals for family and friends during the holidays. She was known for her delicious cakes that she baked from scratch. Some of her favorite foods and desserts included fish, meatloaf, fruit cake, chocolate candy, grapes, and Pepsi (her favorite soft drink).

She was soft spoken but did not mind expressing how she felt. She loved spending time with family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Mose Knox, her second husband, Johnny Barnes and her siblings: Maggie Hampton and Willis “Willie” Nowlin, sister-in-law, Arnita “Candy” Nowlin, and nephews: Richard Bryant and Donald Gene Fouse. She was the last surviving member of her original family.
