Jerry Michael Jones, 71, known affectionately as "Mike Jones," of Hephzibah, Georgia, departed this life on March 21, 2024. He was born on August 18, 1952, in Williamson, West Virginia, to the late General Jackson Jones Jr. and the late Maggie J. Taylor.
Jerry graduated from Williamson High School and later served his country in the United States Marine Corps. A diligent worker, he held positions at Norfolk & Western Railway and later the Appalachian Power Company. Following his retirement, he remained active, working as a security officer for Seizemore Security Company and MCG Hospital.
Jerry's faith was paramount in his life. He was baptized at Christ Temple Church on Hairpin Curve in Williamson, West Virginia, and upon relocating to Georgia, he found community at The Redeemed Glory Family Church in Augusta.
Known for his welcoming demeanor, Jerry never met a stranger and cherished his family deeply. He shared a profound bond with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Jacqueline "Jackie" Elaine Finch, and a brother, Joseph "Joey" Anthony Jones.
Jerry is survived by his devoted wife, Robin Jones; daughter, January Michelle Jones; son, Jerry Michael Jones II; six beloved grandchildren: Ta’mara Kryshall Jones, Antravell Martin, Shera’Janelle Martin, Brenae Weber, Janae Jones, and Jade Jones; siblings, Kimberly (Richard) Hariston of Dayton, Ohio, Benjamin Jones of Lexington, Kentucky, Garland (Ellie) Jones of Charlotte, North Carolina, Calvin (Hilda) Anthony of Belmont, North Carolina, Lynn (Jeffrey) Hairston of Lexington, Kentucky, and Stephanie (Steven) Dotson of Williamson, West Virginia; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 29, 2024, from 12:00 pm until the time of his life celebration, 1:00 pm at Christ Temple Church, 101 Fourth Ave, Williamson, West Virginia. Interment will follow at Mountain View Memory Gardens, Maher, West Virginia, where the Belfry Kentucky Honor Guard will perform burial rites.. Arrangements entrusted to Gregory-Martin Funeral Home.
