John H. Hairston Sr.

 On Wednesday, November 9, 2022 John Henry "Rat" Hairston Sr., age 73,  of Rolfe, WV, who departed this life in the Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA, was born on the 22nd day of January 1949 in Arlington, WV and the son of John and Myrtle L. Hairston.  He was a Graduate of Northfork High School and of the Baptist Faith.  He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Vietnam Conflict.  After serving his Country, John had worked in the Coal mines, was a Lineman at Chrysler, and was employed at the Perfection Heat Treatment Plants.  Also, he was a self-employed auto mechanic.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Charlie Hairston and a sister, Inez M. Williams; one granddaughter, Chakyla Hairston and a nephew, Paul Williams.  He is survived by his children:  Marvin Hairston (Dan), Kimberly Johnson (Charles), John Hairston Jr., (Yvonne), Glenn Hairston, Lynn Hairston, Jonnessa Hairston and Logan Hairston (Karri); his grandchildren:  La Tressa, Serena, Samyah, Anahyah, Shanahyah, Jamal, Mariya, Eli, Lucas, Levi, Abel and Leland; his former wife, Cynthia Hairston of Michigan; his siblings:  Stephen Hairston (Nerissa) of SC, Ronald Hairston and Drema Hairston both of WV, and Lynn Hairston (Chandra) of MI.  Also, he leaves to cherish his memory nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved him dearly.  We all will truly miss John Henry.  John H. Hairston Sr.' s Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, November 18, 2022 at Galilee Baptist Church in Arlington with Pastor David Cooper officiating.  Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, 6605 New Hope Road in Bluewell, WV where Military rites will be conducted by the VFW Post 1144 of Iaeger, WV.  The Family will receive friends at 12:00 noon until the time of Service.  Services entrusted to Gregory-Page Funeral Home in Welch.
