Levi Cannaday Sr., age 71, who resided in Northfork, WV; formerly of Keystone, WV, departed this life on Saturday, January 21, 2023 in Welch Community Hospital. He was born in Welch, WV on the 19th day of November, 1951 and was the fourth of five sons born to Thomas L. and Beatrice (Fields) Cannaday. Levi was a 1969 Graduate of Northfork High School and had completed two years of College. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. While living in Washington, DC, he was employed as a Correctional Officer. After returning to West Virginia, he was employed at the Stevens Correctional Center as a Correctional Officer, and retired as a "CO II" at the McDowell County Holding Unit both located in Welch. He attended First Baptist Church in Northfork, WV. Levi enjoyed listening to the "Oldies but Goodies" music in his leisure time. In addition to his parents, Thomas L. and Beatrice, he was preceded in death by three of his brothers: Johnny, Charles and Thomas. Levi is survived by and leaves cherished memories as being "the most wonderful man in the world" to his wife, Aleto Jo Riley; he was "their hero and the coolest man known" to his children: Levi (Crystal) Cannaday Jr., of Lexington Park, MD, Janeen (Elder Fred) McRae and Lenard (Sabrina) Cannaday both of Allentown, PA; his step-children: Stephney Riley of Alexandria, VA, Eric (Jada) Riley of Bluefield, WV, Jonja Brunson (deceased), Apollonia Lampkin and William A. Lampkin Jr., all of Washington, DC; his only surviving brother, Michael Cannaday of North Wilkesboro, NC and a host of grand and great-grandchildren; many other family members, loved ones and friends. Levi Cannaday Sr.'s, Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at the First Baptist Church 123 E. Barker Street in Northfork, WV with the Reverend Eugene Watson officiating, assisted by the Elder Fred McRae and the Reverend Shelia Smith. Levi's Family and Friends will serve as both pallbearers and flower bearers. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM at the Church. Military Rites will be conducted by the Mercer County Honor Guard. Services entrusted to Gregory-Page Funeral Home in Welch.
