Milford Johnson Obituary

Milford O. Johnson age 72, a long time resident of Wilcoe, WV, who departed this life on Thursday, April 23, 2020 in Princeton Community Hospital, Princeton, WV.  He was born August 4, 1947 in Wilcoe and the son of the late James "Frank" and Lucy (Baker) Johnson.  After graduating from Gary District High School, he began working in the Housekeeping Department at Welch (Emergency) Community Hospital, later was employed and retired after many years, from U.S. Steel No. 50 mines in Pineville, WV.  Affectionately known as "Paw-Paw," he loved his family and grand-kids and spending time with each of them was his joy.  His most favorite pastimes were spent playing cards, gambling, watching the westerns and hanging out at the (Kwik Serv) Lil General Store.  He was a loyal friend and admired by many.  Milford was preceded in death by his parents and the "true love of his life," and the mother of his children, Shirley Johnson White; one son, George Johnson; two brothers, Buddy Johnson  and Kenny (Mildred) Johnson and one sister, Shelby "Jean" (Lonzo) Simmons.     Milford is survived by and leaves a life time of cherished memories to his sons:  Randy Johnson of Wilcoe, WV and Reginald Johnson of Abbs Valley, VA; grandchildren:  Chakara Johnson of Morgantown, WV, Amiyah Johnson and De'Jah Huff both of Wilcoe, WV, Thomas "TJ" Bell and Trace Bell both of Thorpe, WV, Reginald "Lil Reggie" Johnson, Matthias Johnson, Michael and Dakotta Mason and Dymin Gray all of Abbs Valley, VA; one great-granddaughter, Indi J. Suggs of Morgantown, WV;  one sister-in-law, Margaret Johnson of Kyle, WV; several nephews, nieces and cousins, which includes; a special cousin, Robert Wade of Gary, WV; also four very special women in his life:  Brandi Collins, Lafayta Ely, Eva Johnson and Velda Johnson.   A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, May 9, 2020 at First Baptist Church in Wilcoe, WV, with Pastor David Cooper officiating. (Due to Covid-19, proper precautions and social distancing will be observed)  Information submitted by Gregory-Page Funeral Home in Welch, WV.  .
