Mrs. Clara M. Wooden Obituary

To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heavens:  A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;  Ecclesiastes 3:1-2 (KJV)

A Time To Be Born
Clara Mae Wooden was born December 21, 1941, in Welch, WV to the late Edward and Lottie Robinson.

A Time To Plant
She was educated in the McDowell County School System at Elkhorn High School in Elkhorn, WV.  She had resided in Maybeury, WV most of her life, until her recent move to Bluefield, VA,  due to health challenges.  Clara sincerely believed she had the most rewarding job in the world; which was being a homemaker and dedicating her life to raising her children.  In April of 1985, she accepted Jesus Christ  as her Lord and Savior and became a member of The Original Glorious Church of God in Christ in Maybeury, under the leadership of the late Minister Hazel Cockrell. She was greatly involved in this Ministry as being one of the secretaries of the Church, she was responsible for recording the Church Newsletters for the Missionary Ministry.  Also, she took great pride in cleaning the Church every Saturday. Clara received her spiritual gift of healing from God and God alone, for whomever the Lord directed in her path, she laid hands on and prayed for them. She loved talking about the goodness of Jesus.

A Time To Embrace
Clara was married to the late Frank Wooden Jr., and from that union, she became the loving Mother of four sons and one daughter.  She had to become a woman of strength, courage and wisdom due to becoming a widow at a young age, and having to raise their children on her own.

A Time To Die

Clara Mae Wooden peacefully departed this life of 80 years on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 in the comforts of her home, after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her Parents, her Husband and her eldest son, Tiffany D. Wooden and her youngest son, Ricardo E. Wooden.

A Time To Mourn
She leaves a lifetime of cherished memories to her three devoted children:  Gary Lee of Maybeury, WV, Rhonda MeLisa (Wayne) Johnson of McDonough, GA and Frank Zackary (Stephanie) of Taylorsville, NC.  Her five grandchildren whom she most cherished:  Channing (Jessika) of Bakersville, CA, Matthew (Alicia) of Taylorsville, NC, Chanse (Tierra) of Hampton, GA, Tyekia “Kee” of Taylorsville, NC. Zachary “Lil Zack” of Bluefield, WV and her eight great-grandchildren whom she deeply adored:  Chelsea, Chad, Chasity, London, Lauren, Madison, Maddix and Ziakeis. Her four sisters:  Vernice Jones, Pauline (Frank) McCrary both of Columbus, OH, Geraldine Robinson of New York, NY and Doris J. Barrett of Westerville, OH; two sisters-in-law, Alberta E. Wallace of Welch and Ethel M. Mullins of Bluefield, WV and a host of nephews, nieces, special cousins and dear friends.

A Time To Pluck Up

Well done, thou good and faithful servant!  You have fought the good fight of faith. You will always be "the best  Momma"  we have ever known.  Your being such a mighty prayer warrior throughout the years, strengthened our Family.  Your unwavering faith in Jesus, and undying devotion to our Family has weathered, unbelievable storms that uplifted us in the very worst of times. God was and is forever watching over us, the Fatherless and the Widow.  Momma your presence and how you sacrificed so much was enough to let us know the Lord had blessed us when He gave us you. You loved Jesus and you loved us too.  He took care of you, so you could take care of us. For that, we are grateful!  The Homegoing Celebration Service for Mrs. Clara M. Wooden will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at Midway Shiloh Temple in Keystone, WV with Elder John Hale officiant and Lay Minister Betty Younger presiding.   Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, 6605 New Hope Road in Bluewell, WV.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM.  Services entrusted to Gregory-Page Funeral Home in Welch.
