Mrs. DeMaris Brown age 87, who resided at 45 Riverside Drive in Welch, WV and passed away on Sunday, July 11, 2021 at the McDowell Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Gary, WV. DeMaris Ruth Sealander was born July 30, 1933 in Dunkirk, NY to the late Gus and Alice (Hall) Sealander. After living in Dunkirk for most of her life where she completed her education, she became a homemaker and later a caregiver. She was of the Methodist Faith and enjoyed reminiscing about her past. She was known as a "walking dictionary," as she was an avid crossword puzzle fan. She was always pleasant to be around and her strong faith in God helped her to encourage others in hard times. Mrs. Brown was the last surviving member of her original family, as she was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Carl Sealander. Her husband, Joseph L. Brown preceded her in death in 1998 and two of their daughters, Priscilla Murino and Alice Carson. She lived the final years of her life in Welch and is survived by her son, Russell (Mary) Brown of Welch; her daughter, Ina Murino of Rochester, NY, son, Lee Brown of Ridgeway, VA and daughter, Crystal Snow of Dunkirk, NY; her seven grandchildren whom she loved dearly: Amanda (Jason) Taylor, Matthew (Christi) Brown, Joseph Brown, Thomas (Jeanetta) Brown, Eric Greene, Tiffany Greene and Thomas Campbell; her 12 great-grandchildren; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins; other relatives and her friends,Kathy Hawkins and Anne Wesley, who were also her aides. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 7:00 p.m., on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at the Welch United Methodist Church, on the corner of Virginia Avenue and Bridge Street in Welch, WV, with the Reverend Ronald Felts officiating. Her family will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. Services entrusted to Gregory-Page Funeral Home in Welch (to leave online condolences: gregory-pagefh.com.)
