Mrs. Dorothy Walker Obituary

Services for Mrs. Dorothy Walker age 91, of Elkhorn, WV, who went to be with the Lord on Thursday, at BRMC in Bluefield, WV, 11:00 a.m.., on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Upland Baptist Church.  Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Courthouse Road in Princeton, WV.  Visitation on Friday, at the Church from  6:00 - 8:00 p.m.  Dorothy was born July 27, 1927 in Arlington, WV to the late Sandy and Mary Jones.  She was a 1946 graduate of Elkhorn High School.  She retired from the McDowell County Board of Education, where she worked for 18 years as a cook at Elkhorn Elementary, Switchback Elementary, Elkhorn Junior High and Northfork Middle Schools.  She was an avid Northfork Blue Demon Fan.  She was a member of Upland Baptist Church, where she served as Mother of the Church, Church Clerk Emeritus, former President of the Pastor's Aide, and President of the Missionary Society.  She was also a member of the Usher Board and the Kitchen Committee.  She was a member of the Artistic Society.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Junior "Sack" Walker; son, Harold "Stinky" Walker; two brothers, Sandy Jones Jr. and Franklin Jones; one sister, Willie Mae Thomas; one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter.  She was the last surviving member of her original family.  She is survived by her four daughters:  Barbara (Jimmie) Crawley of Elkhorn, Patricia (Wayne) Weaver of Waldorf, MD, Janice Neal of Bryans Road, MD and Gloria Faye (Rev. Timothy) Hairston of Elkhorn; adopted daughter, Sandra (Purcell) Massenburg of Ft. Washington, MD; four grandsons:  Joseph Neal Jr., David (Angela) Hairston, James "JR" (Diana) Crawley and Steven Walker.  Granddaughter, Erica Weaver; great-grandchildren:  DeAndre Weaver, Adonte Williams, Joseph Neal III., Tian Crawley, Zy'iana Walker and Jada Henderson; son-in-law, Joseph Neal Sr., special grandson, Rodney Powell; grand-goddaughter, Traci Johnson; special friends:  Janie Ivy, Ann Wheeler, Alma Thompson, Loretta Powell and Della Powell; her "guys" the Butler, EJ Ivy, Morris Marshall and Kevin Dickerson; her Upland Baptist Church family and a host of other relatives and friends. :
