Mrs. Elizabeth Armistead Obituary

Mrs. Elizabeth C. "Shane" Armistead, age 93, a life long resident of Worth, WV, who peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 in the comforts of her home, was born August 15, 1926.  She was the daughter of the late Harrison and Oma J. (Saunders) Cox who resided in Roanoke, WV.  She was a 1945 graduate of Elkhorn High School and a life long member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church in Arlington, WV.  She enjoyed traveling  and her most favorite pastime was Bingo.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George B. Wesley Armistead; one son,Donald Saunders; two grandsons, Johnnie Jr. and Cedric M. Williams; her siblings:  Charles, Edward, and Josh Cox, Kathleen Davis and Edith Brown.  She was the last surviving member of her original family.  She leaves a life time of cherished memories to her children:  Junior L. (Joyce) Terry Sr. of Dayton, OH, Cheryl A. Watkins of the home, Rhonda (Johnnie Sr.) Williams and Gary (Michele) Armistead both of Bluefield, WV, Pastor Donna E. (Fredrick) Patterson of Jacksonville, NC and Sonja Armistead of Columbus, OH; 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; several generations of nephews and nieces; which includes; special nephews:  Douglas Brown, Kevin Coles, Lynn Hairston, Ivory (Anne) Brown and special niece, Deborah Brown.  her sister-in-law, Elena Armstead; three special daughters:  Frances McDonald of Columbus, Brenda Jackson of Richmond, VA and Dr. Deloris Moore of Jacksonville; her Church family and friends.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Tim Hairston presiding, Pastor Donna E. Patterson eulogist and Pastors:  Harold Calloway, David Cooper and Earl Thompson assisting.  Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, 6605 New Hope Road in Bluewell, WV.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., Family and friends will serve as both pallbearers and flower bearers.  Services entrusted to Gregory-Page Funeral Home in Welch, WV.  (to leave online condolences:  gregory-pagefh.com).
