Mrs. Elizabeth Johnson Price age 102, a long time resident of Iaeger, WV, who peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at the Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital in NY. She was born on the 2nd day of July, 1918 in Cincinnati, OH and the daughter of the late Brown and Mary (Johnson) Poore. Mrs. Price attended public schools in both Logan and McDowell County. After completing her education, she became a homemaker. For many years, before the closing of Lily of the Valley Baptist Church in Iaeger, she had served as a faithful member. Later, she joined Beulah Baptist Church in Big Sandy, WV. She was an avid reader, who enjoyed learning new and different methods of making her home life more enjoyable. Her most favorite pastimes were spent outside doing yard work. Mrs. Price held treasured memories of celebrating her "100th" birthday at her home in Iaeger. Due to health concerns, she lived her final, pleasant years in New Rochelle with her son, James, her daughter-in-love, Iris and family. Mrs. Price will be lovingly remembered as always being considerate of her family and of others. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Wellman Brooks Sr, her second husband, Arrington Price; five children: Cora Lee Johnson, Alice O. Parker, Wellman Brooks Jr., Robert A. Price and Vera M. Brooks; two grandsons, James Brooks Jr. and Jackie Johnson; one granddaughter, Karen Price. Mrs. Price was the last surviving member of her original family. She is survived by her only son, James Sr. and wife, Iris Brooks and a host of grand and great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. A Service in Remembrance of her well- lived life will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, June 18, 2021 at the Restlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, 6605 New Hope Road in Bluewell, WV, with the Reverend Larry Hairston eulogist and the Reverend George Masterson presiding. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. Services entrusted to Gregory-Page Funeral Home in Welch, WV, (to leave online condolences: gregory-pagefh.com. Please be fully aware and abide with the State of WV and CDC guidelines during the COVID-19 Pandemic; which still requires face masks to be worn by the unvaccinated and social distancing be observed, should you wish to attend the Visitation or Service.
