Mrs. Gearldean L. Redd, age 89 of Wilcoe, WV, who  departed this life on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Westwood Nursing Center in Bluefield, VA. She was born April 20, 1928 in Pearisburg, VA and the daughter of the late Janie (Conner) and Henry Summers Sr. and Oscar E. and Mabel (Ridley) Roberson.  She was a graduate of Genoa High School and attended Bluefield State College, where she met and married James W. Redd.  For the past 71 years, she was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Wilcoe, where she served as Mother of the Church, Sunday School teacher and member of the Choir.

In addition to both her birth and adopted parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Sr., one (Infant) daughter, Gloria and five siblings:  Frances Elaine Donaldson, Charles "Mickey," Cicero, Joseph and Henry Summers Jr.  She was the last surviving member of her original family.

She leaves a life time of treasured memories to her devoted sons:  James W.(Guenda) Redd Jr., of Ft. Worth, TX, William L. (Marie) Redd of Huntington, WV, Michael L. (Bonita) Redd of Welch and Robert D. (Trudy) Redd of Bluefield, WV; eight grandchildren:  Belinda, James III., LeMarquis, D'Ann, Jonathan, Randall, Kyle and Alec; 10 great-grandchildren:  Desmond, Kennedy, Morgan, Dallas, Javier, Jayvian, Jaliyah, Janess, King and Kayla; two great-great-grandchildren, Asher and A'Niya and a host of nephews, nieces; other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:00 p.m., on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Wilcoe, with the Reverend David Cooper and the Reverend Jerome Powell  officiating.  Entombment will follow in Rest lawn Mausoleum on Rt. 20, Littlesburg Road in Bluewell, WV. 

Family and friends will serve as both pall bearers and flower bearers.  Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., until time of Service at the Church.
