Gladys Mae Robinson Crawley who resided in Welch and formerly of both Roderfield and Landgraff, peacefully departed this life early, on Monday, March 11, 2019 in the comforts of her home. She was born February 10, 1930 in Cascade, VA, and the daughter of the late James Sr. and Mary Robinson. After completing her education, she began working at Doctors' Memorial (Grace Hospital), later at Welch Community and retired as a nurses' assistant from Stevens Clinic Hospital in Welch. She was a member of Smith Memorial Church in Welch, the Court of Calanthe in Capels and the Princess of Omar Lodges. She enjoyed attending Church, shopping, traveling and listening to music. She was a "people person." She had a special gift and was skilled in caring for the sick. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Warren G. Crawley Sr.; eight of her siblings: Freddie, Lawrence, Ronald, Stanley, Katherine, Helen, Kenneith and Mary "Lorine." She will be remembered for the love she had for both her friends and family. She is survived by her six siblings: James Jr. (Vanessa), and William "Edward" (Marianne) both of NY, James "G-by" (Marva) of NC, Jeanette and Janette Robinson both of Welch and Barbara Inge of NJ; sisters-in-law, Pamala "Pat" Robinson of Charleston and Cora Robinson of Elkhorn; a devoted nephew and caregiver, Larry (Tammy) Robinson of Northfork several generations of additional nephews, nieces and cousins; which includes a special cousin, Curtis (Ann) Johnson of NC; her Church family, many friends and her devoted caregiver, Edith "Eady" Hankins and Donna Harris both of Welch. Mrs. Crawley's Homegoing Service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Miracle Mt. Carmel Church in Kimball, with the Rev. George Masterson officiating. Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, 6605 New Hope Road in Bluewell. Relatives will serve as both pallbearers and flower bearers. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., until the time of Service.
