Mrs. Gracie Courts Wallace age 99, a long time resident of (Johns Branch) War, West Virginia, peacefully departed this life in the comforts of her home on Friday, February 9, 2024. She was born into the very loving parentage of Floyd Sr., and Kornelia (Berger) Courts, on February 29, 1924 in Bartley, West Virginia. After completing her education, she became a devoted wife, mother and "First Lady," under her husband's Pastorship. Mrs. Wallace was of the Baptist Faith, and was faithful to God and serving Him all of the days of her life. She was an example of "the Virtuous Woman," that is spoken of in Proverbs 31. Mrs. Wallace was preceded in death by her Parents; her husband, the Reverend Johnnie W. "JW" Wallace Sr., and five of their sons: Spencer, James, Henry, Isaac and Charles; each of her siblings: Floyd Jr., Gladys, Edna, Josephine, Mollie Lee, Pearline and Corrine. Mrs. Wallace was the last surviving member of her original family. She leaves a lifetime of cherished memories to her devoted children: Johnnie Jr., and his wife, Mary Wallace of Providence, Rhode Island, Ervin and his wife, Gloria Wallace of Birmingham, Alabama, Anna B. ( husband, George deceased) Hausley of Charlotte, North Carolina, Jerry and his wife, Vicky Wallace of Birmingham, Alabama, Terry and his wife, Cassandra Wallace of Charlotte, North Carolina, Anthony Wallace of the home, Tyrone Wallace of Providence, Rhode Island, Georgia and her husband, Benjamin Hairston of Bedford, Virginia and Bernice Wallace, her dedicated caregiver of the home; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; several generations of nephews and nieces; other relatives, her friends and neighbors. Mrs. Wallace's Home going Service will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, February 16, 2024 at Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Bishop, West Virginia, with the Reverend James Green eulogist and Pastor Joseph Moore, presiding. Interment will follow in Hartwell Cemetery in Hartwell, West Virginia. Her Family will serve as both pallbearers and flower bearers. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM at the Church. Services entrusted to Gregory-Page Funeral Home in Welch, West Virginia.
