Mrs. Katie Greenwood-Griffin

Mrs. Katie B. Greenwood-Griffin age 75 and a life long resident of Hemphill, WV, who passed away on Friday, December 11, 2020 at Welch Community Hospital. She was born May 26, 1945 in Fairmont, WV and the daughter of the late James Greenwood Sr. and Minister Mattie Austin Greenwood Manns. After completing her High School education, she began working as a cook at several local restaurants.  Also, she was a Dietary Supervisor at the (former) Doctors' Memorial Hospital in Welch, WV, and retired from McDowell Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Gary, WV.  In earlier years, she was a member of the (former) Emmanuel Tabernacle Church in Hemphill and later joined Royal Kingdom in Capels, WV.  In addition to her parents and step father, Henry Manns, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Griffin; two brothers, Richard and James (Ruth) Greenwood Jr., and her sisters:  Virginia M. Hairston, Laura M. (Paul) Booker and several close nephews and nieces.  She will be greatly missed by her daughters, Frenchie P. Culbertson of Kimball, WV and Kimberly L. "Kim" Culbertson of the home; two sisters, Rosie Greenwood of Kimball and Laura V. Greenwood of Welch; sister-in-law, Patricia Greenwood of Maryland and the Griffin Family; four grandchildren: Adrianne, Marquis, Nicholas and Chauntel Culbertson; five great-grandchildren and several generations of nephews, nieces, cousins and a long time friend, Freddie Jean Patterson of Cleveland, OH.. Her Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, December 21, 2020 at the Mausoleum Chapel of Restlawn Memorial Gardens, 6605 New Hope Road in Bluewell, WV with Pastor Earl Thompson eulogist and Pastor Stephon Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardnens.  Family and friends will serve as both pallbearers and flower bearers. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., until the time of Service.  Services entrusted to Gregory-Page Funeral Home in Welch.(to leave online condolences:  gregory-pagefh.com.)  Both social distancing and wearing of masks will be observed.
