Mrs. Lula May Wilkins-Murrell age 87, a long time resident of Kimball, WV, who departed this life on Friday, July 2, 2021 at the Westwood Nursing Facility in Bluefield, VA. She was born May 15, 1934 in Gaffney, SC and the daughter of the late William "Willie" Sr. and Mattie (Leach) Wilkins. She graduated with "high honors" from Kimball High School and had attended College in Gaffney. She had worked in New York and later at (the former) Doctors' Memorial Hospital in Welch, WV as a nursing assistant. She was a member of Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church in Kimball and for many years, she was a member of the Marie Chapter No. 49, O.E.S. of Kimball. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll Murrell; two brothers, Donnell and Alphonso Wilkins and one sister, Dorothy Wilkins-Stennis. She will be lovingly remembered as a devoted homemaker and mother to her children: Larry (Darlene) Wilkins of Kyle, WV, Sharon Wilkins of Kimball, Donald Wilkins of Portland, OR, Jerome Wilkins of Columbus, OH, Gail Wilkins and Teressa Murrell both of the home; a special granddaughter whom she raised, Monica (Emmanuel) Donaldson of Anderson, SC; three brothers: William "Willie" (Carolyn) Wilkins Jr. of Keystone, WV, Robert (Bernice) Wilkins of Spartanburg, SC and Emmanuel (Michelle) Wilkins of Portland; three sisters: Alice Wynn of Columbus, Altia Wilkins of Portland and Hester Wilkins of Mt. Vernon, NY; a host of grand, great and great-great-grandchildren; her nephews, nieces and friends. The Homegoing Service for Mrs. Lula M. Murrell will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church in Kimball with the Reverend Emmanuel Donaldson eulogist and the Reverend George Masterson presiding. Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, 6605 New Hope Road in Bluewell, WV. Active pallbearers: Ellis Barnett, Gerald Diggs, Phillip Hickman, Clifton Huckleberry, Larry Hughes and Richard Nemore. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., O.E.S. rites will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Services entrusted to Gregory-Page Funeral Home in Welch, WV, (to leave online condolences: gregory-pagefh.com.)
