Mrs. Mae E. Johnson-Brady Obituary

Mrs. Mae Ellen.Johnson-Brady age 72 of Apex, NC, who departed this life on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC, following a long illness.  Mae was born June 14, 1948 in Welch, WV into the very loving parentage of James and Alice (Jamison) Johnson.  Mae was raised in Capels, WV and later moved to Havaco, WV.  After completing her High School education, she received her Bachelor's Degrees in Elementary Education and in English at Bluefield State College. She received her Master's Degree in School Administration and Special Education at Marshall University.  Also, she earned various Teachers' Certifications at both Harvard and Fordham Universities.  Mae was a life long member of Havaco Temple Church.  She was a retired Teacher, having taught in McDowell and Mercer Counties.  While living in New York, she taught in the New York City Public School System.  She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Links Incorporated and a life time member of UFT (United Federation of Teachers.)  She was also a member of the McDowell County and Mercer County Teachers' Association and the WVEA Association.  Mae was a great daughter and sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and friend.  She enjoyed both flower and vegetable gardening and caring for her lawn.  She was an avid NBA Basketball Fan of LeBron James.  However, when her grandsons began playing both High School and College Basketball, they became her "most valuable players."  Mae was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James (Alice) Johnson; her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Annie D. Keith; her son, Anthony E. McRae and one brother, Lamont D. Johnson Sr.   Mae leaves a life time of cherished memories to her husband, Irving L. Brady Sr., her sons:  Irving Jr., of Albany, NY, Gary and Vincent of Elkins, WV and George Brady of Columbus, OH; her only daughter, Michelle McRae-Beloti and her husband, Truesdale of Apex; her grandchildren:  Brandon, Jordan, Jayden and Kendall Beloti, Trudina Beloti-Johnson, Raishaud and Kainen Brady, Kaisen Shelley, Shaniya, Saquan, Kareem,  Elijah, Camron, Chance and Calionna Skye Brady; great-granddaughter, Lavender Gwinn; two sisters, Louise J. Simmons and her husband, Thomas and Anna Carper and her husband, Joseph both of Bluefield, WV; the father of her daughter, Ernest (Maude) McRae of Brooklyn, NY; one aunt, Mrs. Vivian Jamison of Columbus, OH and a host of cousins, nephews and nieces; other relatives and friends.  Mae's Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, April 30, 2021 at the Faith Center Church, 102 Federal Street in Bluefield, WV, with Minister Timothy Moore, Reverend Kenneth L. Orr, District Elder Timothy Schofield and Reverend Eugene L. Watson officiating.  Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, 6605 New Hope Road in Bluewell, WV.  Mae' s family will serve as both pallbearers and flower bearers. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m.  Services entrusted to Gregory-Page Funeral Home in Welch (to leave online condolences:  gregory-pagefh.com.)  Both social distancing and the wearing of masks will be observed.
