Ms. Ernestine E. Stigger

Ms. Ernestine E. Stigger age 76, a resident of  Bluefield, WV; formerly of Welch, WV, who peacefully departed this life on Monday, October 12, 2020 in the comforts of her home, surrounded by her devoted family.  She was born September 1, 1944 into the very loving parentage of the late Elder Rosa Lee (Saunders) and John Robert Stigger, who resided in Jenkinjones, WV.  Ernestine was raised in a Christian home and at a very young age, gave her heart and life to the Lord.  She was a graduate of Gary District High School.  She received her BS Degree from Bluefield State College and her Master's Degree from Marshall University.  In earlier years, Ernestine lived and worked in New York.  She had taught  school in both Clinton, Iowa and in Florida.  After  moving to Welch, WV,  she was employed by the McDowell County Board of Education.  Having taught throughout the County, she retired from Mount View High School.  Ernestine was a member of (the former) Emmanuel Tabernacle Church in Hemphill, WV under the pastoral ship of her Mother.  She loved the Lord, reading her Bible and singing praises to God.  She enjoyed both traveling and shopping and had her own, very classic style.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four of her brothers:  Orlander E., Robert L., Philip Sr., and John D. Stigger; her sister-in-law, Regina Stigger and two of her nephews, Keith Stigger  and Philip Stigger Jr.  Ernestine's memory will forever be cherished by her only brother, Joseph E. and  his wife, Luleen "Resey" Stigger  of the home; her special niece, Talibah Stigger of New York; three generations of close nephews and nieces and a host of cousins, her sister-in-heart, Jennifer K. Moore-McClain of Columbus, OH and her special friends:  Joyce Woods and Ann Wooten both of Florida, Dr. Dorothy Brice of Lynchburg, VA and Lorna Dykes of Princeton, WV.  Ms. Stigger's Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, October 19, 2020 at the Restlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, 6605 New Hope Road in Bluewell, WV, with the Reverend Edwin Ogburn officiant.  Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Services entrusted to Gregory-Page Funeral Home in Welch, WV; (to leave online condolences:  www.gregory-pagefh.com.)  Social distancing and wearing of masks will be observed.
