Ms. My'nequa Edwards Obituary

My’Nequa “Mekka” Ray'Nee Edwards age 30 of Premier, West Virginia, departed this life on Tuesday, June 10, 2025.  Born August 19, 1994 in Welch, West Virginia, she was the daughter of Michael Sr., and Kimberly (Wade) Edwards. She was a beloved mother, daughter, sister, niece, cousin, and friend. 

Mekka was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Andrea Wade and  Nick Millner; paternal grandparents, Charlie and Geraldine Edwards; three uncles: Kelvin Wade, Ronald and Joe Edwards and two cousins, Kevin and Marcus Edwards. 

 Left to cherish her memory includes: her father, Michael “Big Mike” Sr.; mother, Kimberly; two daughters MyLeyah Edwards and My’Rhyi Edwards-Brim, two sons, Major Edwards and Raheem Brim Jr., three brothers:  Michael (Brandi), Marquise and LaMont Edwards; her companion of six years, Raheem Brim Sr., her great-uncle, Garnet Edwards Sr., and great-aunt, Betty Johnson;  a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. 

 MyNequa graduated from Mount View High School in 2012 and furthered her education at Valley College in Princeton, West Virginia, where she graduated with her certification in both, as a Medical and EKG Assistant and Phlebotomy. 

Mekka was an extraordinary person.  Her love for her family, in particular her children; which was evident in all aspects of her life. She possessed a vibrant personality, a bright, radiant. and beautiful smile that was contagious, and a heart that profoundly impacted everyone she knew or  encountered. Mekka was deeply family-oriented, nothing she loved more than was spending time with her loved ones, friends; especially her brothers and “cousins.”  Mekka loved her four children, they were her entire world. She took immense pride in being an "Edwards.''  Her faith in the Lord was unwavering, and she never ventured out without her Bible. She delighted in bringing joy and laughter to others. Regardless of circumstances, she had an heart of gold, and never met a stranger! Mekka had an extraordinary ability to brighten anyone's day.  She was the type of person that would have you smiling even on the most challenging days. Yellow was her favorite color, reflecting her bright, beautiful, warm, joyful, and energetic personality. My'Nequa had a profound impact on everyone’s life she touched. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her and her passing will be deeply felt by all who loved her. The memories of her will endure forever, leaving an indelible mark.

My'Nequa's Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:00 noon, on Friday, June 27, 2025 at the Greater Mt. Zion Pentecostal Church 104 Park Street in Bluefield, West Virginia.  Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 6605 New Hope Road in Bluewell, West Virginia.   Services entrusted to Gregory-Page Funeral Home in Welch,
