Nannie Murrell Obituary

Mrs. Nannie Washington Pryor Murrell, affectionately known as "Ms. Lula," age 95, a long time resident of Northfork, West Virginia, peacefully departed this life on Monday, November 11, 2024 in the comforts of her home. 

She was born in Ashland, West Virginia on the 30th day of November in 1928.  The daughter of Rufus R. Pryor and Nannie Wade Pryor and her father who helped raise her, Landon Pigeriam.  Nannie was a 1947 graduate of Elkhorn High School.  In earlier years, she was a private in home care provider for several families and had worked at the Post Office in Worth, West Virginia.  Nannie was a life long member of Galilee Baptist Church in Arlington, West Virginia.  She had faithfully served as a member of the Gospel Chorus and throughout the years was the Mistress of Ceremony for various programs.  Ms. Lula loved the Lord, attending church and singing her most favorite song, "Come On In The Room."  She enjoyed traveling and was well known by both family and friends for her very delicious potato salad. 

She was the last surviving member of her original family, as she was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus, Nannie and Landon; her first husband, James W. Davis; her second husband, Robert L. Murrell and three daughters:  Wandalene Pryor, Audrey Murrell Wade and Helen Wilson.

She leaves many cherished, treasured memories to her children:  Gladine T. White of the home; Stanley Pryor of Beaver, West Virginia and the Elder Ella Braxton of the home and Hinesville, Georgia; her grandchildren:  Tara "Twinkie" White, Tyiesha Braxton, Vickie White, Omar Murrell, Wesley Murrell, Larry Murrell and Shirley Felder; 16 great-grandchildren:  Alize', Armani, Shaniqua, Quincey, Jasmin, Makyala, Mya, Omaryaha, Augistin, Tianna, Scarlett, Santana, Kenaija, Briyanna, Khy'ree and Audra; a host of great-great-grandchildren; one god-sister, Deborah Brown; two special cousins, Mary Beck and Edith Allen; many other relatives and dear friends.  A Celebration Service honoring her well lived life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Restlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel 6605 New Hope Road in Bluewell, West Virginia with Evangelist Timothy Hairston officiating.  Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM.  Services entrusted to Gregory-Page Funeral Home in Welch, West Virginia.
