Pearlena Edwards-Swafford Obituary

Pearlena G. Edwards-Swafford of 158 Little Egypt Road (Havaco) Welch, West Virginia departed this life early on Saturday, April 20, 2024 in Welch Community Hospital.  Pearlena was born in Welch, on the 26th day of November, 1957 into the parentage of Garnet E. Edwards Sr., Audrey Witherspooon Brown and Luvenia Gray Edwards.  After graduating in 1977 from Welch High School, she began working in retail sales at Catos Fashion Store, Shoe Show and was an Assistant Manager at the Super Ten Store all in Welch.  Her last place of employment was Arby's Restaurant in North Carolina.  Pearlena was an "all around, master of all trades," homemaker who enjoyed cooking and sewing.  She spent time with the Lord by reading her Bible, praying and in meditation.  She was preceded  in death by her birth mother, Audrey and her mother who raised her, Luvenia; one great-grandchild and four of her siblings:  Alfreda, Irlene and Alphonso Motley and Mark Wooden.  She leaves lasting, cherished memories to her father, Garnet E. Edwards Sr., of the home; her devoted children:  David D. Edwards Sr., of Harrisburg Virginia, Tamika M. Belle of Huntington, West Virginia and LaShawn N. Winfree of the home; her (13 heartbeats) grandchildren:  Dazia, David "DJ" and fiancee' Rachael, Bre'A and husband, Zack, Tamia and fiancee', Brianna, Donovan, Shakur, Domonic, Jackson "JJ" and great-grands:  Draven, Devin, Romani, Aiyden, Haven and due in July, DaKari.  Her siblings: Reverend Garnet E. Jr., and his wife, Julia Edwards of Kimball, West Virginia, Carolyn and her husband, Pastor Roi Johnson of Stone Mountain, Georgia, Debra and her husband, Robert McNeil of Raleigh, North Carolina, Carlton "Hellcat" Edwards of North Carolina, Roderick and his wife, Rhonda Edwards of Long Beach, California, Daniel Israel, Michael Wooden of Charleston, South Carolina, Paula and her husband, Danny Smith and Stephanie Edwards both of Charleston, West Virginia, Tonya Barlow, Maxine Montgomery of Chicago, Illinois, Jencine Keys of College Park, Georgia, Linda McCall and Gloria Smith of New York; two aunts, Vennie Ward and Betty Johnson; special cousins: Linda Edwards, Yvonne Johnson and Dee Dee Banks; a hosts of nephews and nieces, numerous cousins and friends.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at the Mount Zion Church of Christ in Havaco with her brother-in-law, Pastor Roi Johnson officiating.  Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens 6605 New Hope Road in Bluewell, West Virginia.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM.  Family and friends will serve as both pallbearers and flower bearers.      Services entrusted to Gregory-Page Funeral Home in Welch.
