Reginald Wallace Obituary

Reginald Lee Wallace, age 65 of Huntington, West Virginia; formerly of Welch, West Virginia, departed this life on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at his residence. 

He was born in Welch on the 2nd day of April, 1960 and the fourth child born into the parentage of Newberry Sr., and Alberta E. (Wooden) Wallace. 

Reg or Reggie as he was known by to both family and friends, grew up on Court Street in the Welch community.  He attended public schools and graduated from Mount View High School.  While in high school, he began working at Kentucky Fried Chicken in Welch, as his goal was to get his very own vehicle, a gold Nova with a brown vinyl top.  During his earlier years, he played little league baseball and left a lasting impression on his Coaches and teammates. 

As time went by, he relocated to other states and areas and found work before moving back home to Welch.  After moving to Huntington, he was employed by the Housing Authority.  Growing up in a Christian home, attending Church was always a priority.  He attended several Churches during his lifetime, but was most impacted by the teachings of the late Bishop Arnie Joyce, the Pastor of Miracle Mt. Carmel Church in Kimball, West Virginia. 

Reg was a "people person," with a smile and personality that was never easily forgotten.  He enjoyed dressing, shopping and traveling; his most favorite football team was the Dallas Cowboys.

He was preceded in death by his Father, Newberry Sr., one brother, Douglas Eugene and sister-in-law, Angie Wallace and one sister, Alberta Wallace-Rowell.

Reg is survived by and leaves cherished memories to his Mother, Alberta; daughter, Danielle Taylor and his five siblings:  Bernard J. Wallace, Gail S. (Keith D.) Wallace-Gregory, Newberry Walllace Jr., Leila M. (Reggie) Wallace-Abraham and Faye (Willie) Wallace-McCrary; one aunt, Ethel Wooden-Mullins and a host of nephews, nieces; great-nephews and great-nieces; several generations of cousins; his special friends:  Tara and Keishawn Staples, Donnell Pannell, William Welch and many other friends.       

Service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at Restlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, 6605 New Hope Road in Bluewell, West Virginia with the Elder James E. Montgomery Sr., officiating.  Burial will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
