Robert Jeffries

On Sunday, July 30, 2023 Robert Jeffries age 63 of Havaco, WV departed this life in the comforts of his home.  He was born in Welch, WV and the son of the late Otis Sr. and Martha (Davis) Jeffries.  After completing his education at East Welch School, he began working at the Council of Southern Mountains in Welch.  Later becoming employed at Tug River Clinic in Gary, WV and was last employed at Save-a-lot Supermarket in Welch.  Robert was a faithful member of Havaco Temple Baptist Church.  Robert enjoyed life. loved his family and never met a stranger.  He was a "die hard" Oakland Raiders fan.  In addition to his parents, Otis Sr. and Martha, Robert was preceded in death by his natural parents, Estella Collins Gray and Sonny Branch; three brothers:  Mack Earley, Eddie Coats Jr. and Carl Collins; one sister, Yolanda Diane Collins and the mother of his children, Rosie Lynn Childress.  Robert leaves cherished memories to his children:  Quintina M. Childress and Deanna L. Chldress both of Bluefield, WV and Jonathan M. Childress of Gary; three grandchildren:  Allyssa M. White, Willie N. Childress and Zoey R. White; his siblings:  Otis and his wife, "Dee Dee" Jeffries of Atlanta, GA, Martha Byrd of Detroit, MI, Vanessa D. Johnson of Northfork, WV, Ulysses Jeffries of Seattle, WA, Verna and her husband, Joseph Diggs Sr., of Havaco, Matline "Peanut" Taylor of Columbus, OH, John Leak and his fiancee', Doris Young of Wilcoe, WV,  Carmain D. "Lois" Collins and her fiance', Derrick Richardson of Welch;  a special niece with whom he made his home, Mahalie Kidada Collins and special great-nephew, Mesyah Hickman; several generations of nephews, nieces and cousins; his special friends:  Garnet "G Buddy" Edwards Sr., Cedric McCune, Harry Parks and Rodney Winfree. Service for Robert Jeffries will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, August 11, 2023 at Rock Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Gary, with (his Pastor) the Reverend Kenneth L. Orr presiding and eulogist, assisted by the Reverend George Masterson.  Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, 6605 New Hope Road in Bluewell, WV.  Family and friends will serve as both pallbearers and flower bearers.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, until the hour of Service at the Church.
