Roy Caldwell Obituary

Mr. Roy Edward Caldwell  63, of Lawrenceville, Georgia; formerly of Houston, Texas, departed this life on Thursday, June 26, 2025, in Houston, Texas.

Roy  was born on November 18, 1961 in Welch, West Virginia, to his parents, Roy and Era Caldwell.

He was a devoted husband, parent, sibling, and friend to others and a loyal Veteran of both the US Marine Corps and the Navy.

Roy is survived by his wife, Annette “Tina” White-Caldwell; two daughters, Kelli of Detroit, Michigan and Alexandra of the Washington, DC, sisters, Lethia Martin of Charleston, West Virginia, Gloria Bush of North Carolina and one brother, Robert Wright Jr. 

Roy was preceded  in death by his parents:  Roy and Era Caldwell and biological parents, Corrine Floyd and William Martin. Also, his maternal grandmother, Claudia Parr and several aunts.

Roy was a 1980 graduate of Mount View High School and participated in the Welch High and Mount View High Schools' Band. He played the tuba and received accolades at the State level. Roy also participated in track and field and loved swimming at the Linkous Park Pool in Welch. Upon graduation, he joined  the military, where he proudly served and received numerous awards and citations.

He was thankful for his upbringing on “Welch Hill,” and he maintained his relationship with God, which began many years ago, rooted in the foundation of his Bible-based upbringing at Emmanuel Tabernacle Church in Hemphill, West Virginia and at both Smith Memorial Church and True Holiness Temple in Welch..

Roy had a genuine love for professional football, baseball, and basketball, particularly Texas-based teams, until he started dating and married “Tina” when he began his journey to become a Georgia Falcons and Braves fan. He was an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion, where he volunteered consistently. He had held several jobs in the workforce after his military career.  

Service for Roy E. Caldwell will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, July 18, 2025 at Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church in Kimball, West Virginia with Reverend  George Masterson officiating.  The Mercer County Honor Guard will perform Military rites.  Burial at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin, Virginia.  Services for Mr. Caldwell entrusted to Gregory-Page Funeral Home in Welch.
