Victor D. Holcomb

Victor DeVaughn "Vic"  Holcomb age 67, a lifelong resident of Welch, West Virginia departed this life on Wednesday, May 11, 2023 in the comforts of his home.  Vic was born May 29, 1955 in Welch and the son of Mrs. Deloris Byers Holcomb of Cincinnati, Ohio and the late Eugene G. Holcomb.  He was a 1973 graduate of Gary High School and a member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Welch.  He was formerly employed as a Sales Associate at Winn Dixie in Charlotte, North Carolina and had worked as a maintenance worker for the McDowell County Board of Education.  While in high school he excelled in football and received his welding certificate from the McDowell County Vocational Center in Welch.  Vic enjoyed gardening and cooking.  He had a genuine concern for others; especially the senior citizens.  Vic was a good neighbor and a great conversationalist who gave advice when needed.  In addition to his Father, he was preceded in death by his only brother, Dwayne "Parez" Holcomb and sister-in-law, Tracie Carter Holcomb; his maternal grandparents, Isaac and Asalea Byers and his paternal grandparents, George and Beatrice Holcomb; two uncles, Clifford and McArthur Holcomb and two aunts, Alice Coleman and Marie Holcomb.  Vic leaves a life time of cherished memories to his mother, Deloris; his son, Derrick D. Houston of Charleston, West Virginia; his only sister, Angela (Wayne) Ewing of Cincinnati; his nephews, Michael Ewing and Rico (Marissa) Holcomb; nieces:  Alysha and Alexis Ewing, Ashley (Justin Sr.) Smith, Shamyra Holcomb all of Cincinnati; great-nephews, Justin Jr., Jerzey and Jayce Smith, Roger Miller, Isaiah, Halijah and Judah Holcomb and great-nieces, Rose and Lillia Holcomb all of Cincinnati and one uncle, Robert Holcomb and an aunt, Ruth Holcomb both of Cleveland, Ohio; several generations of cousins and his many friends.  A Graveside Service for Victor D. Holcomb will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, 6605 New Hope Road in Bluewell, West Virginia with Bishop Ed Ogburn officiating.  Interment will follow.  Repass at 68 Linden Street in Welch.  Services entrusted to Gregory-Page Funeral Home in Welch.
