Willie E. Harris Jr.,  age 63,  of Welch who passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Welch Community Hospital.  He was born February 15, 1954 in Welch and the son of the late Willie E. Harris Sr. and Evelyn Corine Dillard Harris  He was raised in Superior "Blue Heaven," WV and a graduate of East Welch School.  At a young age, he became a member of Shilo Baptist Church in Maitland.  After his enlistment with the U.S. Army, he made his home in Welch and was employed as a firefighter with the Welch Fire Department.  His favorite sports were basketball and wrestling and he enjoyed watching television.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers:  Raymond, Malcolm "Mackey," Johnny Ray and Fletcher "Chucky," and his maternal grandparents, Leslie and Ruby Dillard. Survivors include his daughter, Angela Fitzgerald-Hudson and two grandchildren, Jahshua and Destiny of Fredericksburg, VA; sisters:  Ruby (Arnold) Prewitt of Rural Hall, NC, Donna Harris and Carmela (Danny) Frederick both of Welch and Decora Nivens of Winston-Salem, NC and brothers, Jeffery (Christine) Harris of Beckley and Charles Walker of Columbus, OH and a host of other relatives.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Court Street United Methodist Church in Welch, with the Reverends:  Larry Hairston, William Spencer and Olen Butcher Winfrey, officiating. Friends may call at 10:00 a.m., until time of Service.
