Woodrow Padgett Jr., a life long resident of Coalwood, West Virginia who departed this life in the comforts of his home on Thursday, September 22, 2022. He was affectionately known as Brother or Woody to his Family and friends was born in Six, West Virginia on April 19, 1944 into the loving parentage of Helen and Woodrow Padgett Sr. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. Upon his completion of duty, he began working at Olga Coal Company in Coalwood. Woodrow was of the Baptist Faith. He loved the Lord, his Family and his friends. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed the outdoors. He was known for his humor and for his willingness to help others. Also, he was the "official greeter" at the Coalwood Country Corner. In addition to his parents, Helen and Woodrow Sr., he was preceded in death by three of his siblings: Evelyn Niles, Henry Padgett and Penni Klinestiver. Woodrow leaves to mourn his passing and to celebrate his life, six devoted siblings: Priscilla Simpkins of South Carolina, Wilma Alston of Charleston, West Virginia, Robert (Vickie) Padgett Sr., of Memphis, Tennessee, Reginald Padgett of Worcester, Massachusetts, Janice Pack-McClure of St. Albans, West Virginia and Ronald (Priscilla) Padgett of Princeton, West Virginia; several generations of nephews, nieces and cousins and a host of friends. Service for Woodrow Padgett Jr., will be held at 7:00 P.M., on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at the Coalwood United Methodist Church with the Reverend Mark McKinney officiating. Visitation will begin at 6:00 P.M. Services entrusted to Gregory-Page Funeral Home in Welch, West Virginia.
